In order to evaluate the effects of the changes in systolic time intervals(STI)on the judgement of myocardium stunning, the authors compared variations in STI of 14 patients who had received percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty(PTCA).The results showed that 3~5 d after the PTCA,the ratio of preejection period to the.1eft ventricular ejection time
(PEP/LVET)rose from 0.386±0.070 to 0.460+±0.070;7~8 d after the PTCA,the PEP/LVET ratio(This ratio is a sensitive index of STI in evaluating the left cardiac function)became normal. The above results agree with the ejection fraction obtained by means of uhrasound cardiography suggesting that STI measured in series can show the changes in left cardiac function and that changes in the PEP/LVET ratio may serve、as one of the indexes for judgement of myocardlum stunning.
