In 12 open chest mongrel dogs coronary artery critical stenosis were produced by a micrometer constrictor on anterior descending coronary artery. The effects of xuefuzhuyutang on the myocardial ischemia model was observed by measuring the mean artery pressure (MAP), the left ventricular diastolic pressure (LVDP), maximal rise in left ventricular pressure (dp/dtmax),maximal fall in left ventricular pressure (-dp/dtmax) and the cardiac output (CO)etc. The results showed that the LVDP was significantly increased and the MAP,CO,dp/dtmax and -dp/dtmax were lowered during the period of coronary artery critical stenosis. By taking xuefuzhnyutang in the mediacted group,cardiac function was significantly improved.
